City
water service extends from the Bridge of the Gods on the west
edge of town, to the Oxbow Hatchery on the frontage road about
two miles east of downtown. The
City has adequate groundwater and surface water rights available
to allow for both residential and industrial expansion.
Water
is billed based on consumption at a rate per 1,000 gallons, plus
a flat 'meter maintenance fee' per month. The 'meter maintenance
fee' is based on the size of the meter at the service, and consumption
rates are designated as 'in-city' or 'rural'.
A connect
charge ($30.00) will be assessed when a new account
is opened or if a physical connect is required.
Customers
who are developing unimproved property will pay an installation
fee, and the cost of the meter and fittings, plus a "main
charge" which is assessed per foot of lot frontage if a main
is available to that property. If a main must be extended to accommodate
the new home, the customer will also pay all costs associated
with that main extension.
The
City's Public Works Superintendent is available to discuss your
project and give an estimate for the work.
